Recap: ThunderRidge Grizzlies vs. Rock Canyon Jaguars
The ThunderRidge Grizzlies had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged Rock Canyon out 62-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
ThunderRidge was led to victory by Tommy Wight and Andrew Crawford. Wight scored 20 points along with five rebounds, while Crawford almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine assists. Another player making a difference was Drew Paine, who scored six points along with two steals and two blocks.
Rock Canyon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hudson Ellwood, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Ellwood continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Macoy Terry, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
The win (which was ThunderRidge's third in a row) raised their record to 21-5. As for Rock Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 20-6.
ThunderRidge is on the road again on Friday and plays Eaglecrest at 5:45 p.m. on March 8th. Hopefully ThunderRidge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday. Rock Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
