Baseball Recap: Pagosa Springs Takes a Loss

After flying high against Centauri on Saturday, Pagosa Springs came back down to earth. The Pirates fell 8-4 to the Falcons on Saturday. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 12-2.

Chris Martinez put in work no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Martinez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sebastian Gonzalez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Pagosa Springs has also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Centauri, they moved to 6-11 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pagosa Springs will welcome Bayfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.71 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Centauri, they will be playing at home against Alamosa at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Mean Moose have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.29 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
