Preview: Troy Warriors vs. Fullerton Indians
Troy is 9-1 against Fullerton since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Troy Warriors will be home for the holidays to greet the Fullerton Indians at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Troy beat Santiago 55-45. The win was just what Troy needed coming off of a 70-45 loss in their prior contest.
Troy can attribute much of their success to Josh King, who scored 14 points along with three steals, and Terry Ahn, who scored 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. Andre Taberna was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, Fullerton scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 64-56 victory over Santa Ana. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fullerton.
Fullerton found their leader in underclassman Baylor Wilks, who shot 7-for-11 from deep and dropped a double-double on 39 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Guillen, who scored 17 points.
Troy's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Fullerton, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Troy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 61.2 points per game. It's a different story for Fullerton, though, as they've been averaging only 48.6 points per game. The only thing between Troy and another offensive beatdown is Fullerton. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Troy didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Fullerton in their previous matchup back in February, but they still walked away with a 57-53 win. Does Troy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fullerton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
