Softball Recap: Newton-Conover Comes Up Short

Newton-Conover was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 22-8 to the Lincolnton Wolves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 on March 7th.

Makenzie Patton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jesse Goble, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Newton-Conover's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Lincolnton, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.

Newton-Conover didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against East Burke on the 1st. As for Lincolnton, they have also already played their next matchup, a 10-0 loss against Bandys on the 1st.
