Preview: Conneaut Spartans vs. Garfield G-Men
The Conneaut Spartans will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Garfield G-Men at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th.
Last Friday, Conneaut came up short against Madison and fell 27-18. While losing is never fun, Conneaut can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 354th, while Madison is ranked 152nd).
Meanwhile, Garfield put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Brookfield, posting a 60-25 victory at home. Fans of Garfield have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
It was another big night for Keegan Sell, who rushed for 324 yards and five touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 37 receiving yards. Sell hasn't dropped below sixsolo tackles for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Geddes, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Conneaut has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Garfield, their victory was their tenth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 10-0.
Conneaut was taken down by Garfield 48-21 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Conneaut, Vinnie Grandizio (who rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
