Football Game Preview: Chaminade Flyers vs. Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds

The Chaminade Flyers are taking a road trip to square off against the Kellenberg Memorial Firebirds at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Chaminade will be strutting in after a victory while Kellenberg Memorial will be coming in after a defeat.

Chaminade will bounce into Saturday's game after beating Cardinal Hayes, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Flyers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cardinals 21-18.

Chaminade can attribute much of their success to Sean Carnevale, who threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 30 yards.

Meanwhile, Kellenberg Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by Iona Prep 47-13. While losing is never fun, the Firebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Gaels are ranked first).

Chaminade will have to contain John Hastings as he made an impact in Kellenberg Memorial's last game. He picked up 79 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Kellenberg Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Chaminade, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Chaminade took their victory against Kellenberg Memorial when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 42-21 score. In that matchup, the Flyers amassed a halftime lead of 28-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
