Basketball Recap: Mark Jenkins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jefferson County Christian over Cornerstone Prep

Jefferson County Christian was the 58-50 winner over Cornerstone Prep when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Jefferson County Christian Royals fell to Cornerstone Prep 69-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (57), the Royals still had to take the loss.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mark Jenkins, who went 10-for-17 on his way to 24 points and six steals. Jenkins is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Lee Gump was another key player, going 6-for-13 to rack up 13 points and eight boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Jefferson County Christian and nudges their season record down to 10-8. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for Cornerstone Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
