Baseball Recap: Franklin Monroe Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Franklin Monroe, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Twin Valley South Panthers on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Jets also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Brandt Filbrun made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Franklin Monroe is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise. Filbrun was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Filbrun wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Hurley, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Franklin Monroe hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Twin Valley South struck out 12 times.

The victory got Franklin Monroe back to even at 3-3. As for Twin Valley South, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Franklin Monroe will head out on the road to challenge St. Henry at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Twin Valley South, they will host Northridge at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
