Baseball Recap: Twinsburg Drops Season-High Score on Geneva

It's playoff time, and Twinsburg had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Geneva Eagles with a sharp 16-1 win on Thursday. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Nathan Kimmel looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jason Cox was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Brevin Ward, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Twinsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Twinsburg is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Geneva, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Twinsburg didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-1 loss against Mentor on the 23rd. Geneva does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
