Softball Recap: Haverford Makes It Three in a Row at Home

While Haverford's victory against Marple Newtown wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Fords never let the Fightin' Tigers get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Fords in their matchups with the Fightin' Tigers: they've now won six in a row.

Ali Daly made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Daly wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brenna Carfrey, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Haverford's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Marple Newtown, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 11-1.

Meanwhile, Marple Newtown will challenge rival Springfield at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Fightin' Tigers 2.2, the Cougars 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
