Basketball Recap: St. Brendan Comes Up Short

St. Brendan played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 58-19 defeat at the hands of the Mater Academy Charter Lions. The Sabres haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Bella Perez was St. Brendan's leading scorer, having posted seven points.

Mater Academy Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Riley Wilkerson led the charge by going 5 of 11 on her way to 10 points along with eight boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Via Hazelton, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and three steals.

St. Brendan's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Mater Academy Charter, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Brendan will take on Marathon at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mater Academy Charter, they will face off against Gulliver Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
