Baseball Recap: Honey Grove Sets Scoring Season-High Against Savoy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Honey Grove). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Savoy Cardinals a 20-0 shutout on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Andrew Finney made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kendal Wolfe was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jarrmez Daniels, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Honey Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Honey Grove's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Savoy, they are on a 24-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.
