Volleyball Game Preview: Morgan Park Mustangs vs. Hubbard Greyhounds

The Morgan Park Mustangs will take on the Hubbard Greyhounds at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Morgan Park is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since September 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Back of the Yards College Prep, sneaking past 2-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hubbard, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Curie 2-1 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Hubbard had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 27-25, 25-11.

Hubbard had a senior duo take command as Debora Lopez had 15 digs and six aces and Madeline Morales had 22 digs and two aces. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Lopez.

Hubbard was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Hubbard's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Morgan Park, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Morgan Park came up short against Hubbard in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, falling 2-0. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
