Central put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Escambia Gators with a sharp 20-4 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-2 two weeks ago.

Tenley Smarr made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shelby Zigler, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Lexi Simmons, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Central's record now sits at 10-0. As for Escambia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will host Booker T. Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Escambia, they will be playing at home against Tate at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
