Carlsbad faced Las Cruces in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Carlsbad never let Las Cruces get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cavemen/Cavegirls, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Carlsbad's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Las Cruces, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2.

Coming up, Carlsbad will be taking part in a tournament against Centennial at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Carlsbad will need to watch out since Centennial has now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Las Cruces, they will take on IDEA Rio Vista College Preparatory in a tournament on Saturday.
