Football Recap: Milford Skates Past Fairbury with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Milford). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Fairbury Jeffs 45-14. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Jeffs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Landon Roth had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 203 yards and five touchdowns. Those five passing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Adams, who gained 120 total yards and a touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Milford proved: they limited Fairbury to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. The team can thank Cory Langenberg for the heroic effort on defense: he. The dominant display was nothing new: Milford has now limited their opponent to fewer and fewer yards per carry in three consecutive matchups.

Milford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Cole Brown, Isaac Roth, and Zeb Reil picked up one apiece.

Milford's record is now 3-1. As for Fairbury, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Milford and Fairbury will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Eagles are set to face off against their familiar foe Lincoln Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Fairbury will challenge rival Syracuse at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
