Softball Recap: Mission Bears vs. Lowell Cardinals

Mission had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 16-0 to the Lowell Cardinals.

For Lowell's part, Kaylee Kline made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Kline has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Kline was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Lowell got a massive performance out of Sophie Duncan, who went 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Aja Saraf was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Lowell and bumps their season record up to 12-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mission will take on Balboa at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Balboa is coming into the matchup with three straight wins at home, so Mission will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Lowell, they will head out on the road to square off against South San Francisco at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lowell will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
