Soccer Game Preview: Hilldale vs. Collinsville

The Hilldale Hornets will head out to square off against the Collinsville Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Hornets on Friday. Hilldale fell just short of Booker T. Washington by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Hilldale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma soccer rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Booker T. Washington is ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, Collinsville hadn't done well against East Central recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Collinsville narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past East Central 1-0. That's two games straight that Collinsville has won by just one goal.

Collinsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-1-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those six matchups. As for Hilldale, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4-1.

Hilldale came out on top in a nail-biter against Collinsville when the teams last played back in February of 2021, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
