League recap: Phillips Exeter Academy's Carey delivers best pitching performance from past week

Central New England league recap: 5/22/13

Hunter Carey was the best pitcher in Central New England this week, leading Phillips Exeter Academy. He struck out 11 batters this week.

Worcester Academy had a successful week, as it won three total games to lead the league. The Hilltoppers beat the Lions 3-0 and Cushing Academy 5-3.

Phillips Exeter Academy boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

There were five hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. Leading the pack was Matt Girard, who hit .667 by going 4-for-6.

Anthony Nomakeo stayed on top of the league with a .417 average this year after hitting .500 this week for Northfield Mount Hermon.



Carey led Worcester Academy to a win on May 18, as he notched eight strikeouts to beat the Lions, 3-0. Over his six innings pitched he allowed three runs on five hits.
