Softball Recap: Atkins Takes a Loss

Atkins lost against High Point Central back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Atkins fell just short of High Point Central by a score of 12-11. Even if the Camels couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Ava Fleming was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Olivia Haas was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Atkins' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for High Point Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.

Atkins has already played their next matchup, a 12-2 loss against Leadership Academy on the 25th. As for High Point Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 defeat against Southern Guilford on the 25th.
