Basketball Recap: Isaiah Johnson and Kenson Anderson Secure Win for Roosevelt

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chapin, Roosevelt was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They snuck past the Trinity Christian Lions with a 66-61 victory.

Leading Roosevelt to victory were Kenson Anderson and Isaiah Johnson. Anderson made all 6 shots he took racking up 20 points in addition to five assists and five steals, while Johnson made all 6 shots he took to post 12 points along with eight boards and five blocks. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Harris, who posted six points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Trinity Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lucai Anderson, who went 10 of 23 on his way to 28 points. That was a full 45.9% of Trinity Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jet Naegele, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds.

Roosevelt is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 30.7% in those games and 23.4% outside of them. As for Trinity Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season.

Roosevelt didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-40 win against Pebble Hills on the 28th. As for Trinity Christian, they will venture away from home to challenge Southwest Christian School at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Southwest Christian School knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Trinity Christian likes a good challenge.
