Baseball Recap: Rio Grande City Gets the Win

While Rio Grande City's win against Nixon wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rattlers had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 5-4. The Rattlers haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Deandre Rodriguez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Rio Grande City's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-9 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Hiram Lopez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Rio Grande City now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Nixon, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.
