Basketball Game Preview: Pearland Oilers vs. Dobie Longhorns

Pearland has gone 6-1 against Dobie recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Pearland Oilers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dobie Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Pearland is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Dawson just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 48-46. While the Oilers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 17-12 in the first quarter.

Pearland might have lost, but man, Eliece Perry was a machine: she went 8 for 15 en route to 22 points along with eight boards and four steals. That's the most points Perry has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Anita Nwosu, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Dobie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against Shadow Creek, falling 67-25. The Longhorns were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-13.

Pearland's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-7. As for Dobie, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-17.

Everything came up roses for Pearland against Dobie in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 76-26 win. Will Pearland repeat their success, or does Dobie have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
