Baseball Recap: New Way Learning Academy Comes Up Short

New Way Learning Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Heritage Academy Heroes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Heroes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 back in March.

New Way Learning Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Seckler, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Cyrus Eaton also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As for Heritage Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Heritage Academy's side, Haven Anderson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Anderson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Grover, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was David Mota, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Way Learning Academy will head out to square off against Ajo at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Heritage Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Trinity Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Warriors have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
