Baseball Recap: Trumann Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Trumann made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bay, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the Trumann Wildcats' way against the Bay Yellowjackets on Thursday as the Trumann Wildcats made off with an 11-1 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Peyton Chaffin tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Drake Harlow, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryker Shuburte, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2.

Trumann always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bay only posted an OBP of .300.

The win got Trumann back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trumann will head out to take on Buffalo Island Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bay, it'll be a Battle of the Bugs Bay Yellowjackets duke it out with Harrisburg Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
