Baseball Game Preview: Lone Oak Buffaloes vs. Rains Wildcats

Lone Oak is 0-9 against Rains since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Buffaloes will square off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Lone Oak has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lone Oak lost 17-3 to Edgewood last Saturday.

Lone Oak saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cason McBride, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The Buffaloes are 2-1 when McBride posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rains). They put the hurt on Commerce with a sharp 15-1 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won eight in a row.

The victory got Rains back to even at 11-11. As for Lone Oak, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Lone Oak suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Rains when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Buffaloes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
