Softball Recap: Tolsia Beats Mingo Central for Their Third Straight Victory

Tolsia waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Mingo Central Miners 12-4. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Kalynn Salmons made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with six stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Tolsia let Carly Johnson and Ava Lyons run wild. Johnson got on base in all four of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases and two runs, while Lyons went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those seven stolen bases gave Johnson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keira Maynard, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Tolsia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Tolsia's record now sits at 10-8. As for Mingo Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Tolsia will square off against West Carter at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mingo Central, they will face off against Van at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Miners are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
