Baseball Recap: Jefferson Gets the Win

Jefferson took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Platte Canyon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saints skirted past the Huskies 7-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Saints as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Guillermo Lopez was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Jefferson's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't). Demetrius Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Jefferson picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 4-8. As for Platte Canyon, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Jefferson will be playing in front of their home fans against Bennett at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Platte Canyon, they will venture away from home to take on Clear Creek at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
