Baseball Recap: Seabreeze Wins Going Away Against Pine Ridge

Seabreeze barely beat Pine Ridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Sandcrabs blew past the Panthers 7-1 on Monday. The Sandcrabs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th.

Austin Upchurch made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Seabreeze is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise. Upchurch was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jake Deising was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caiden Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.

The victory made it two in a row for Seabreeze and bumps their season record up to 11-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Pine Ridge, they moved to 9-4-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Seabreeze will take on Atlantic in a tournament on Wednesday. The Sharks' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Sandcrabs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pine Ridge, they will welcome University at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
