Softball Recap: Oxnard Takes a Loss

Oxnard suffered their biggest loss since April 6, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against the Westlake Warriors, falling 9-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellowjackets of the 13-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2021.

Oxnard saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Destinee Herrera, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Oxnard hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. This was only their first loss (out of seven games) when they post two or more strikeouts.

This is the second loss in a row for Oxnard and nudges their season record down to 7-3. As for Westlake, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Oxnard didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 loss against Simi Valley on the 25th. As for Westlake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 7-4 win against Rio Mesa on the 22nd.
