Baseball Game Preview: Covina Colts vs. Laguna Hills Hawks

The Covina Colts will head out to face off against the Laguna Hills Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last six games Covina has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Covina's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out South El Monte 1-0.

The result came thanks to D. Bowers's shutout, as he gave up just six hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Covina is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 0-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Covina saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was J. Alvarez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Alvarez snagged this season.

Meanwhile, Laguna Hills had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Rebels.

Laguna Hills' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Covina, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
