Volleyball Recap: Athens Academy Beats Social Circle for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Athens Academy won the last time they faced Social Circle and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Spartans walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Redskins. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Athens Academy was: they took both sets by at least 18 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-7.

Their offense was headlined by Joci Higginbotham and Sally Swann, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Lucy Wages and her ten assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Athens Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Social Circle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Athens Academy will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Oglethorpe County at 5:00 p.m. As for Social Circle, they are taking a road trip to take on Mount de Sales Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
