Softball Game Preview: Truckee Wolverines vs. Eureka Vandals

The Truckee Wolverines will face off against the Eureka Vandals on Saturday. Truckee will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Truckee turned things around against Loyalton on Thursday. They walked away with a 24-20 victory over the Grizzlies.

Truckee got a massive performance out of Sophie Inis, who went 5-for-6 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those five hits gave Inis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellyse Hutchins, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Truckee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Eureka was not able to break out of their rough patch last Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 24-5 to Wells.

Jaydan Buchanan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emma Auch, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

Truckee's win bumped their record up to 8-19. As for Eureka, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Truckee has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .482. However, it's not like Eureka struggles in that department as they've averaged .547. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
