Football Game Preview: Whittier Christian Heralds vs. Western Christian Fighting Lancers

Two dominant wideouts in Josepablo Gutierrez and Jonah Baldivia are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Whittier Christian Heralds will face off against the Western Christian Fighting Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Whittier Christian took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 7-6 victory over Arrowhead Christian. The seven-point effort marked the Heralds' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Whittier Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Gutierrez and Tuff Kovacs.

Meanwhile, Western Christian strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 41-34 win over Maranatha.

Whittier Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Western Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.

Whittier Christian beat Western Christian 21-14 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Heralds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
