Volleyball Recap: Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Takes a Loss

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy suffered their biggest defeat since September 10th on Thursday. They came up short against the Camp Verde Cowboys, falling 3-0. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Cowboys when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-17, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sophia Lee had seven digs and two aces. Lee is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Brielle Amarel also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Camp Verde can attribute much of their success to IreLinn Chavez-Flanagan, who had 19 assists and five digs.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Camp Verde, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Phoenix Christian on the 29th. As for Camp Verde, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Winslow on the 29th.
