Soccer Recap: Coal City Comes Up Short

If Coal City was feeling good fresh off their 7-1 takedown of Wilmington on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Coalers fell just short of the Herscher Tigers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The contest was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Coal City couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Anayi Mayorga, who's now up to three this season.

Coal City's loss dropped their record down to 9-4-1. As for Herscher, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2-2.

Looking ahead, Coal City is taking a road trip to take on Joliet Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Herscher, they will take on Bloomington Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
