Coalfield is 2-8 against Oliver Springs since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. Coalfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Coalfield came up short against Anderson County and fell 7-4.
Madison Jackson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Wilson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Oliver Springs came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Wartburg Central by a score of 9-5 on Monday.
Kenzie Russell was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Russell was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Emmeline Patton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Hannah McKinney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Oliver Springs' win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Coalfield, their loss dropped their record down to 18-4-2.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Coalfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. However, it's not like Oliver Springs struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
