Baseball Recap: Oak Glen Wins Going Away Against Wellsville

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wheeling Central Catholic, Oak Glen was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Wellsville Tigers with a sharp 13-3 victory. With that win, the Golden Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Ethan Wedgewood spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Christian Chappell and Cam Carter did most of the damage at the plate: Chappell went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Carter scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Those four RBI gave Chappell a new career-high. Lucas Zoellers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Oak Glen's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Wellsville, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Oak Glen will take on Trinity Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Golden Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 13.7 runs per game this season. As for Wellsville, they will face off against United at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
