Softball Recap: Union Grove Comes Up Short

Union Grove suffered their biggest defeat since March 14th on Friday. They lost 11-2 to the Overton Mustangs. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Union Grove saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaki Pharr, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Union Grove's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Overton, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Union Grove will challenge rival Ore City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Overton is set to take on their familiar foe Beckville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs are on an eight-game streak of home wins, the Bearcats a five-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
