Baseball Game Preview: Andover Golden Warriors vs. Central Catholic Raiders

The Andover Golden Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Central Catholic Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Andover is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.

On Thursday, Andover made easy work of Haverhill and carried off an 8-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Golden Warriors, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Andover got a great performance from Max Dyer as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Will Norris was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Ryan Jaillet was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Andover hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Central Catholic posted their closest victory since April 14th on Wednesday. They never let Haverhill get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Hillies recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Andover's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Central Catholic, their record now sits at 6-9.

Andover was able to grind out a solid win over Central Catholic in their previous matchup back in April, winning 4-0. Do the Golden Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
