Baseball Recap: Andover Gets the Win

Andover took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Lawrence, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Golden Warriors skirted past the Lancers 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Warriors have posted against the Lancers since June 12, 2019.

Sean Napolitano and Chris Jaillet did most of the damage at the plate: Napolitano went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI, while Jaillet went 4-for-5 with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave Jaillet a new career-high.

Andover was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Andover and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Lawrence, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Andover will face off against Beverly at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Warriors are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lawrence, they will challenge Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
