Basketball Preview: Central School Pioneers vs. Briarfield Academy Rebels
The Central School Pioneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Briarfield Academy Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Central School scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 40-5 win over Northeast Baptist. The victory was some much needed relief for Central School as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Central School got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lola Doyal out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals. Amanda Seekford was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Briarfield Academy slipped by the Rebels 41-40 on Tuesday.
Central School's victory bumped their record up to 3-16. As for Briarfield Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Central School was taken down by the Rebels 51-9 in their previous matchup back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Central School was down 32-8.
