Recap: Summit Tigers vs. Palisade Bulldogs
After flying high against the Middle Park Panthers two weeks ago, the Summit Tigers came back down to earth. Summit received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 53-38 to Palisade. While losing is never fun, Summit can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Palisade is ranked 79th).
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was River Close, who scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kayla Smith, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Chloe Simons continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Palisade, scoring 28 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Simons has scored at least 25% of Palisade's points. Delaney Wright was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Summit's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7. As for Palisade, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Summit will be playing at home against Basalt at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Basalt is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Palisade, they will head out on the road to face off against Rifle at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
