Basketball Game Preview: Victoria East Titans vs. Spring Woods Tigers

The Victoria East Titans will square off against the Spring Woods Tigers on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Victoria East came up short against Randle and fell 64-57. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Spring Woods had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.4 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 61-54.

Victoria East better keep an eye on Tavionn Pickens. He was instrumental in Spring Woods' win, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 12 boards. Pickens has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Noble Thompsonel was another key player, putting up 16 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Spring Woods smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Spring Woods' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points over those games. As for Victoria East, their loss dropped their record down to 19-16.

Victoria East couldn't quite finish off Spring Woods in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 51-49. Can Victoria East avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
