Softball Recap: Larkin Gets the Win

Larkin lost to Batavia back in April of 2018, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Royals came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 11-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.

Mackenzie Wemken was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Larkin let Kenya Ventura and Ali Herrick run wild. Ventura went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Herrick went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Kaitlyn Neubert was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Larkin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Larkin's record now sits at 15-16. As for Batavia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-23 record this season.

Larkin will face off against Barrington at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fillies/Broncos will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Royals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Batavia, they will square off against Benet Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
