Centerville dropped their record down to 7-2 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Fairmont Firebirds by a score of 3-2. The contest marked the Elks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

As for Fairmont, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The win continues a trend for them in their matchups with Centerville: they've now won four in a row.

For Fairmont's part, Brayden Vance tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Vance has posted over his last four games.

On the hitting side, Fairmont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Mastro, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

While Centerville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
