La Cueva had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cibola Cougars 4-3. The win was familiar territory for the Bears, who have now won 22 matches in a row.

Liliana Montoya spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 22 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, La Cueva saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Fox, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Genesis Jaramillo was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
