Basketball Recap: Malik Balmes and Leyton Lockard Secure Win for Colony

Colony won the last time they faced Mountain City Christian Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Colony Knights snuck past the Mountain City Christian Academy Lions with a 52-48 victory.

Colony was led to victory by Leyton Lockard and Malik Balmes. Lockard en route to 22 points, while Balmes posted 11 points and five assists. That's the most points Lockard has posted since back in December of 2024.

Colony smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain City Christian Academy only three offensive rebounds.

Mountain City Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaidhen Oyao, who on his way to 15 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Darian Igwacho, who to rack up 15 points.

Colony now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Mountain City Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colony will head out to challenge Kodiak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colony is facing Kodiak at the right time seeing as Kodiak is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Mountain City Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Wasilla at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Wasilla's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.
