League recap: Porter breaks off league-leading run for O'Fallon

Todd Porter of O'Fallon ran for the longest rushing play in Southwestern this season against Edwardsville last week. Porter ran for 79 yards on the play and finished with 100 on the day as his team fell to the Tigers.

East St. Louis extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Belleville West, 26-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

O'Fallon's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Porter threw for 367 and three touchdowns and Klayton Gettis had 150 yards receiving. Darius Mosely helped O'Fallon's passing attack out by catching 10 balls for 105 yards.

O'Fallon's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Porter has thrown for 1876 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Mosely has 44 catches for 691 yards. Kentrail Moran leads the league in rushing with 508 yards.

Entering into this week's contest against East, Porter is short just 124 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.

A big matchup in Southwestern this week will be when the Panthers take on the Lancers. At the moment, O'Fallon is in second, while East is in fifth.

East St. Louis was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping the Maroons. Darren Sunkett's team came in at 17 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
