Soccer Recap: El Monte Gets the Win

It was a proper cat-fight when El Monte challenged Rosemead on Tuesday. The El Monte Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Rosemead Panthers. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 387th, while the Panthers are ranked 860th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Danny Cardona and Aaron Rivera scored both of El Monte's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

El Monte now has a winning record of 6-5-2. As for Rosemead, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10-4.

El Monte has already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Mountain View on the 30th. As for Rosemead, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next matchup, a 4-2 loss against South El Monte on the 30th.
